To document these new fragmented apparitions, I began with vintage photographs I had collected for many years and digitally deconstructed them into anonymous parts. I then meticulously reconstructed them into my elusive characters, with a process akin to a forensic sketch artist, using both analog and digital photographic tools. The result is a parade of anonymous suspects, that up until now, only I could see. By selecting a pale color pallet of blues, grays and yellows, that deceptively appear as a traditional chemical process, but can only be consistently reproduced with digital printing, I am honoring the mystery of my apparitions.
Embracing and reconstructing these visual hallucinations has become crucial to my physical recovery, and is the birth of a new artistic vision for myself.
